Smoke

1. I will start with a flame like the one in the Fire tutorial

2. Make a new layer. Select the air brush and the color white. Click on the Options pallete and set the Opacity of the brush to 50%.

3. Paint where you want the smoke.

4. Create a layer mask on this layer. (For info on how to create a layer mask, click here.)

5. While on the layer mask, go to Filter>Render>Clouds. If you don't like them, do this again.

You can also make the smoke reflect the glow of the fire.

1.Make another new layer.

2. Go to Layer>Group with Previous.

3. Make a white to orange gradient across the smoke. Repeat until you are satisfied with the results.
